Definitions
- the invention relates to a medical instrument, such as a wound hook, brain spatula, muscle spreader, vaginal speculum and the like, with a working part engaging on the body of the patient to be operated on or examined to keep an intervention site open, the working part having a lighting device on the front for illuminating the intervention site ,
- the invention further relates to a method for producing such an instrument.
- Such instruments are known for example from the utility model DE 83 17 820 Ul and DE 89 02 631 Ul.
- the exit surface of at least one light guide (plastic or glass fiber cable) integrated in the working part is used as the lighting device for illuminating the engagement point.
- Laryngoscopes with a spatula designed as a working part and a handle part connected to the spatula are also known, in which a light bulb is arranged on the front side in the spatula as an illumination device.
- the light bulb is connected via an electrical connection to a power source (battery) arranged in the handle part.
- a disadvantage of these known medical instruments is, inter alia, that the light intensity of such light bulbs is relatively low and their use in medical instruments is generally not sufficient to keep an intervention site open for illuminating the intervention sites. If, on the other hand, light bulbs that generate a higher light intensity would be used, this inevitably leads to an impermissibly strong heating of the side of the working part facing the point of engagement and thus also of the tissue in the area of the point of engagement.
- the invention is based on the object of specifying a medical instrument for keeping an intervention site open with a lighting device arranged on the front side, which ensures high light intensity and precise illumination of the intervention site without complex additional devices, without an inadmissibly high heating of the instrument occurring in the area of the intervention site.
- a method for producing such an instrument is also to be specified.
- the lighting device has proven to be particularly advantageous if a plurality of light-emitting diodes arranged in an array-like manner are used as the lighting device, each of which is connected via an electrically conductive connection to a continuously operating or a clocked current source.
- the power source for example a rechargeable battery
- the handle part connected to the working part.
- the use of the medical instrument is not restricted by the outer contour of the light-emitting diodes, it has proven to be expedient if the light-emitting diodes are embedded in a translucent material (e.g. plastic) which is flush with the surface of the working part.
- a translucent material e.g. plastic
- the prefabricated lighting device e.g. several white LEDs soldered together
- the prefabricated lighting device e.g. several white LEDs soldered together
- the working part (and possibly also the handle part) is not made of metal but from a suitable plastic.
- the prefabricated lighting device and the electrical connections (cables) connected to the lighting device are fixed to a heat-dissipating metal core and this arrangement is then embedded in plastic (ie, for example, in a appropriate shape, which is then cast with plastic). Further details and advantages of the invention result from the following exemplary embodiments explained with reference to figures. Show it:
- Fig.l shows the longitudinal section through a first embodiment of a retractor blade according to the invention with a rectangular lighting array comprising a plurality of light-emitting diodes;
- FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of the retractor blade shown in FIG. 1;
- FIG. 3 shows the longitudinal section through a second embodiment of a retractor blade according to the invention
- Figure 4 is a perspective view of the retractor blade shown in Figure 3;
- FIG. 6 shows a speculum with a surgical site lighting consisting of a curved lighting array.
- 1 and 2 denotes an L-shaped wound hook blade, which has a recess 3 at its front end 2.
- a rectangular array 5 consisting of sixteen light-emitting diodes 4 is arranged in this recess 3.
- the white light-emitting light-emitting diodes 4 are arranged in such a way that their light-emitting front surfaces, as seen in the spreading direction 6, are located on the back 7 of the wound hook blade 1 in order to illuminate the site of intervention when used as intended.
- the light-emitting diode array 5 is embedded in a translucent plastic 8, which is flush with the back 7 of the wound hook sheet 1.
- the light-emitting diodes 4 are connected via electrical connections 9 to a rechargeable current source (accumulator) 10, which is located in a handle part 11 indicated by dashed lines.
- the electrical connections 9 run predominantly within the wound hook blade 1.
- FIG. 3 and 4 show a further exemplary embodiment of a wound hook blade 12 according to the invention with an arc-shaped array 14 of white light-emitting diodes 15 arranged on the back 13.
- FIG. 5 schematically shows three retractor blades 17-19 attached to a mechanical holding device 16, which are located in a predetermined intervention point 21 during the operation of a patient 20 indicated by dashed lines.
- Arrays 22-24 of white light-emitting diodes are in turn located on the rear side of the wound hook blades 17-19 facing the engagement point 21, so that all light-emitting diodes together illuminate the engagement point 21 completely.
- FIG. 6 shows a speculum 25 with two hold-open leaves 26, 27, at the front ends of which there is an arc-shaped array 28 of white light-emitting diodes for illuminating an intervention site.
