- a collector-inking cylinder is used on which the necessary ink is transferred from selector cylinders, also called inking cylinders.

- Each of these ink cylinders is associated with a determined inkwell and therefore with a given color.
- the collecting cylinder then transfers the ink corresponding to the different colors to the printing plates.

- this type of ink roller has disadvantages.
- when they are worn that is to say when the raised areas are worn, it is necessary to disassemble the cylinders of the printing machine, to redeposit a layer of plastic or other material on its circumference , to cut again the desired raised areas and finally to reassemble the cylinders in the machine which requires to make long and complicated adjustments to find a correct register of the different impressions on the collector-inking cylinder or on the cylinder plate.
- a first solution which makes it possible to remedy some of these disadvantages consists in using inking plates comprising a photopolymer coating which are mounted on cylinders replacing the known inking cylinders. It is thus possible to prepare these plates independently, in particular by forming the raised areas using a photogravure process, but these photopolymeric plates also have disadvantages.
- the creation of the raised areas must be done flat so that these raised areas are deformed when mounting the plates on the cylinder. It is therefore essential to take this deformation into account during the creation of the raised areas.
- the diameter of the cylinders on which the plates will be mounted also has an influence on the deformation. The life of these photopolymeric plates, in addition to their price, is also unfavorable.
- the lifetime of these photopolymeric plates is much lower than that of the ink cylinders mentioned above.
- the photopolymeric material has a lower elasticity than that of the materials used for the ink cylinders so that the inking is sometimes insufficient, especially in a direct inking process.
- the object of the invention is to improve the known inking systems.
- the invention aims to provide an inking plate which overcomes the drawbacks of known plates.
- the invention also aims to provide a method for producing such an inking plate, an inking cylinder carrying such an inking plate and a rotary printing machine using such an inking plate.
- the inking plate according to the invention is defined by the characterizing part of claim 1.
- the advantages of the plate according to the invention are numerous. On the one hand, one can mention the fact that such plates are much less expensive to produce and that their lifespan is much longer than that of photopolymeric plates. In addition, their manufacture is much simpler since the raised zones are created on plates mounted on cylinders so that these zones are not deformed when installing the plates in a printing machine.
- Claims 2 to 6 define specific embodiments of the inking plate.
- Independent claim 7 defines a printing machine ink cylinder comprising at least one ink plate according to the invention, and independent claim 8 a printing machine comprising at least one such cylinder.

- the indirect inking is carried out by the modules II and III, which comprise a collector-inking cylinder 6 inked by inking cylinders 7 located in the module II associated with the inkwells 8.
- the patterns corresponding to the raised areas of the inking cylinders 7 are collected on the collector-inking cylinder 6 and are then transferred from this collector cylinder 6 to the plate cylinder 2.
- Such a rotary printing machine is known from US Patent 5,282,417 for example, incorporated by reference in the present application.

- a layer of adhesive 14 was first deposited which covers the surface of the plate 11 with the exception of the two ends 12, 13 used for fixing.
- a first layer 26 of a first PVC composition was then deposited and over this first layer 26, a second layer 15 of a second PVC composition was deposited in which reliefs 16 have been trimmed. These reliefs 16 correspond exactly to patterns on the plate which must be inked in a specific color.
- this plate with two layers of PVC is used for direct inking, the second layer 15 being softer than the first layer 26 of PVC.
- FIG. 3 schematically illustrates the inking plate 10 mounted on an inking cylinder 17.
- the plate 10 which corresponds to that of FIG. 2, comprises the base plate 11, the layer of adhesive 14, the two layers 26 and 15 of PVC, reliefs 16 having been cut in the layer 15.
- the ends 12 and 13 of the base plate 11 are held in a pit 18 of the cylinder 17 by an appropriate fixing system, for example pliers (not shown).
- the system for fixing plates to a cylinder is known in the field of rotary printing machines.
- patent EP 0 403 434 which is incorporated by reference into the present application, shows such a fixing system being mounted in the pit of a plate cylinder.
- Such an inking cylinder 17 is then mounted in a printing machine as shown in FIG. 1, preferably in place of the cylinder 4 for direct inking, as indicated above.
- FIG. 4 shows an inking plate in preparation, mounted on a preparation cylinder 20 suitable for depositing successive layers, said cylinder being mounted on a support 22.
- the base plate 11 is mounted on this preparation cylinder 20 and held in position by a clamp system, represented schematically by the reference 23, located in the pit 21 of said cylinder 20.
- the clamp system used can be that described above or any other equivalent system.
- Said pit 21 is then closed by a cover 24 to prevent the glue and the PVC from entering it.
- the cover 24 is fixed by screws 25 or by other equivalent means.
- the adhesive layer 14 is deposited on the surface of the base plate 11 except on the surface of the cover 24. In the case shown in this figure, only one single layer of PVC 27 has been deposited: this configuration of plate corresponds to use in an indirect inking process.
- the outer layer of PVC 27 is harder than the layer 15 of Figures 2 and 3, for plates used in a direct inking process.
- the absence of glue on the cover 24 means that the PVC layer does not adhere to it and to remove the plate 10, it suffices to cut longitudinally, in the axial direction of the cylinder 20, ' the PVC along the edges of the cover to remove the layers of PVC covering said cover 24.
- the fixing means of the cover 24 can then be undone and access the fixing means 23 of the plate 10 on the cylinder 20 and remove the plate 10.
- the method for producing an inking plate according to the invention comprises the following steps: mounting a base plate on a preparation cylinder and fixing by appropriate means;
