Due to the poor distribution of the forces acting only on hinges and locks, they do not meet today's requirements for door frames with regard to security against forced opening and with regard to sealing against air exchange and sound. In addition, they often do not offer an external image that corresponds to the wishes of the apartment users. There is therefore a need for modernization. Steel frames in particular are often so firmly connected to the wall enclosing the door opening that they cannot be removed without considerable dirt and additional work as part of a renovation. The same applies if existing frames molded onto concrete are to be removed. In normal practice, the existing door frames are therefore not removed, but rather clad with so-called renovation frames.
