Abstract

L'invention se rapporte à une unité flash à semi-conducteurs comportant une mémoire flash (27) à semi-conducteurs compatible aux normes d'interface ATA/IDE et qui se connecte à un ordinateur central en vue de stocker ou d'extraire des secteurs de données. Chaque secteur contient 512 octets de données et son adressage s'effectue par un numéro de cylindre, tête et secteur (CTS) et l'ordinateur central assure une fonction lecture ou écriture, la mémoire (27) à semi-conducteurs stockant un en-tête pour chaque adresse CTS qui peut être émise par cet ordinateur central, l'en-tête possédant des indices identifiant le bloc de données et indiquant où les données du bloc sont stockées dans la mémoire (27) à semi-conducteurs. Ce dispositif flash à semi-conducteurs comprend un élément de traduction (19) servant à traduire l'adresse CTS en un numéro de secteurs logiques NSL afin d'identifier des secteurs dans cette unité flash à semi-conducteurs, et un élément de commande (17 et 20) servant à convertir ces secteurs provenant de l'ordinateur central en un secteur à longueur variable qui sera stocker dans cette mémoire flash (27) à semi-conducteurs.
