Definitions

  • the invention relates to a planar display for Aus ⁇ illumination of background areas, consisting of a plate-like member made of a transparent licht ⁇ permeable material and an arranged thereon, the support body for receiving operating according to the operating principle of a light emitting diode Licht ⁇ swell at least the plate-like in * Blast the component and illuminate it.
  • the LCD displays common today are to be mentioned, which with a homogeneous illumination of their background ensure a clear recognizability of the information conveyed by the advertisements.
  • Further applications of such illuminations are front panel illuminations and the background illumination of signs, other light and luminous signs, etc.
  • the disadvantage associated with such a display is that the light-emitting diodes inserted into the carrier body have a comparatively large dimension, so that there is a correspondingly high overall height for the carrier bodies, and thus also for the entire display.
  • Another disadvantage arises from the fact that the light angle of commercially available diodes is limited due to the reflectors used there, which enclose the light-emitting diode chips, so that shadow-free illumination of a background area is only possible when a correspondingly large number of light-emitting diodes are placed close to one another, which is associated with a corresponding outlay .
  • the invention is therefore based on the object of improving a generic area display in such a way that a lower overall height and a shadow-free illumination result.
