Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a nuevos genes bacterianos y procedimiento para mejorar la fabricación de clavams, por ejemplo, ácido clavulánico útil como antibiótico. También proporciona nuevos organismos capaces de producir cantidades incrementadas de ácido clavulánico. Un proceso para mejorar la producción de 5R clavam en un microorganismo adecuado que comprende la manipulación de ADN que comprende uno o más genes específicos para la biosíntesis de 5R clavam en S. Clavuligerus que no es esencial para la biosíntesis de 5R clavam, y su inclusión en dicho microorganismo. Dicho proceso comprende la disrupción u otra manera de hacer defectuosas las regiones de ADN que flanquean a cas1. Se presenta un proceso en el que el 5S clavam es clavam-2-carboxilato y/o 2-hidroximetilclavam. Y un proceso para la preparación de una composición que comprende clavulnato de potasio y amoxicilina, comprendiendo dicho proceso la producción de ácido clavulánico y en adelante convertirlo en sal de potasio y la sal de potasio con amoxicilina.
