To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES M. CONNER, of Greenville, Hudson county New Jersey, have originated and invented a new and original Design for a Font of Printing-Types, of which the following is a specification The nature of my invention is clearly Shown in the accompanying typographie impression, to which reference is made; and consists of a letter the up and down lines of which curve gradually inward from the top and bottom to the center, so that the letter gradually widens from the center to the top and bottom. The letter is shaded by alight line upon the right, and at the bottom the upper termination of the letter C is concaved, and its lower termination curved. The upper and lower terminations of the letters E, G, S, and Z are also concaved. The lower termination of the letter L is concaved. The upper terminations of the letters F and T are concaved. The letters O and Q are made heavier at their sides than at the top and bottom.
Asecond form of the letter B is shown, in which the lower half of the rounded portion of the letter is extended below the 11p-and down line of the letter and curved.
A second form of the letter H is shown, in
which one of the up-and-down lines is extended below the opposite up-and-down line, and is made thicker or wider below the crossline than above it, while the opposite lip-anddown lineis made thicker or wider above the cross-line than below it.
A second form of the letter P is also shown, in which the lower portion of the rounded part of the letter is curved around the upand-down line ofthe letter; and a second form ofthe letter R is shown, in which the line forming a continuation ofthe rounded portion of the letter is extended below the up-and-down line of the same. The lower portion of the symbol St is extended below the base of the symbol and curved.
In the figures, the curving inward of the up-and-down lines ispreserved, the shade-lines are preserved, and the concaving of the terminations is availed of.
Having now described my design, what I claim as new is- The design for a font of printing-types, as shown and described.
