Description

YWYNTOR ADM,
Patented Sept. l, 1874.
UNITED STATES PATENT FFIGE.
.lOllN Y. ll. CARTER, OF DETRIT, MICHIGAN, ASSICNOR T() DETROIT STOVl'l-WORKS, 0F SAME PLACE.
DESiGN FOR HEATING-STOVE.
Specification forming part of Design No. 7,736, dated September 1, 1874; application iiled July Q4, 1874.
[Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN V. B. CARTER, of' Detroit, in the county of lVayne and State of Michigan, have invented a Design for Heat ing-Stoves, of which the following' is a specication:
The nature of my design is fully represented in the accompanying photographic illustration, to which reference is made.
A represents the legs; B, the base-chamber; C, the fire-pot section; D, the illuminating section; E, the magazinesection, and F the top of my stove, snrmonnted by the ornamental urn G. The stove has a tine-chamber, which is the important feature of my design. In the illuminating section are four large doors, hinged at the bottom in four openings, each comprising nearly one-fourth of the entire circumference. The doors are in turn cut into four arched mica windows, a, above which are two large mullions, b, leaving but just metal enough in the door to form a frame and sash having the strength required. The entire circular section of the tire-pot section is cut into as large openings as the space will admit of, and over each is hung a mica door or window. The ash-pit section H, its extension H', and the ash-doors are ornainented with diagonal bars crossing each other at right angles, with short cross-bars between the intersections, as shown. The magazine section is ornamented with pilasters, composed of two parallel ribs, each pilaster rising from a pedestal, and all connected at the top by arches.
The configuration of the base and top moldings, and the form of the urn, are clearly shown in the illustration.
What I claim as my invention isl. The design for the base B B', consisting of the moldings, headings, and curves at the rear, as shown.
2. The design for the ash-pit section H H', with its doors ornamented with diagonal bars, crossing each other at right angles, with short cross-bars between the intersections, as shown.
3. The design for the upper illuminatingsection, D, with doors, windows, mullions, ornainented as shown.
4. The design for the magazinesection E, with pilasters rising from pedestals, and united at the top as ornaniented arches, as shown.
5. The design for the top section F, molded and beaded at the base of the moldings, as shown.
6. The design for the urn G, with uted lower sides, lnedallioned upper sides, return hook-arn1s, and pendent rings, as shown.
7. The design for the lower illuminating section, C, with extension D' curved upward, with windows ornamented with beading, as shown.
8. The design for the legs A, beaded and medallioned, as shown.
9. The design for a heating-stove as a whole, consisting of the sections B B', H H', C D', D, E, and F, ornamented as shown.
