DESIGN FOR SCREEN FOR FIRE-PLACES.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

We, JOHN Ronnms Ross and EDWARD OALELY, of Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented or produced a Design for :1. Shield or Screen for Fire-Places or Fire-place Stoves,

of which the following is a specification.

The design consists in the peculiar configuration and ornamentation of the screen or shield for which Letters Patent were granted to S. B. Sermon, on the 14th day of December, 1869.

In the accompanying drawings- A represents the frame of a fire-place or fire-place stove, the latter being covered by the screen B, which forms the subject of my design.

This screen is fitted snugly to the arched opening of the frame A, is simply rounded below, and made of a concavo-convex form above.

The screen is edged on the arched and side edges with a scalloped molding, and has an upper central shield or panel, D, containing a. scroll ornament with open-work. Below this shield are three panels, E E

E, defined by ornamental scrolls, and containing open lattice-work.

At the bottom of the screen is a door, F, ornamented as shown. 1

The other ornaments of the stove are -too clearly illustrated by the drawings to need specific explanation Claim.
