UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES J. MAYER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A RAIL-BOND.
To (L Z! whont it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES .T. MAYER, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new, useful, and original Design for a Rail-Bond, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof, in Which- Figure 1 is a top or plan view of the railbond, illustrating my design. Fig. 2 is asimilar view of the reverse side of said bond. Fig. 3 isa side view of the same, and Fig. 4 is an end view thereof.
The several views are deemed-essential or necessary to a full understanding and illustration of the design of my said invention.
The leading feature of my design consists of the shape or configuration, as well as particular arrangement, of the rail-bond.
Referring to the drawings, CL and a represent the solid ends of the bond, partially circular in form. The bottom of each end (1 presents a fiat surface in the direction of the beveled edge a and the top surface a is inclined outwardly, and formed with each of said ends is an inclined circular tapering projection a The ends are respectively connected with each other by means of a bar consisting of a series of nested narrow strips arranged in curvilinear forn1-for example, as clearly illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings. These nested strips, constituting the bar and in the form illustrated, are nested closely together and hearsubstantially upon each other in series to constitute the union of the bar with the respective described solid metal ends.
Having thus described my invention, what Iclaim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a rail-bond, herein shown and described.
In Witness whereofI have hereunto set my signature, this 15th day of November, A. D. 1899, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CHARLES J. MAYER.
