Description

DESIGN.
u d m m m n A %WITNESSES ATTORNEY UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDERICK HABENSACK, OF SAG HARBOR, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR, BY MESNE ASSIGNMENTS, TO THE FAHYS \VATCH-CASE COMPANY, OF
NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A SPOON OR FORK HANDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Design NO. 30,875, dated May 30, 1899. Application filed March 15, 1899. Burial No.709,212- Term of patent 36 jun.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that LFREDERICK HABENSACK, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Sag Harbor, in the county of Suffolk and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Spoon or Fork Handles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 shows the obverse side of a spoon, and Fig. 2 the reverse side thereof, the tines of a fork being shown in dotted lines.
The leading or characteristic feature of my design consists of the outline'or contour of the handle, the extreme edge thereof being smooth for the greater portion of its length in contrad istinction to being scalloped or serrated, the handle near the edge being decorated with beads graduating in size from the lower end of the handle to the upper and outer enlarged end thereof, where the smooth edge merges into the larger heads, the outer edges of said larger beads forming the outer edge of that portion of the handle, said larger beads meeting with a fanciful scroll, the outline of which forms the outline of the larger end of the handle, the lower end of the handle being also decorated with a scroll, the outline of which forms the outline of the lower end of the handle, that portion of the handle between the beads being left plain.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the handle of a spoon or fork, the contour or outline of which is in the form of compound curves, the extreme edge a of the handle being smooth in contradistinction to being scalloped or serrated. Near the edge the handle is ornamented with beads B, which increase in size from the lower end of the handle toward the outer enlarged end, at which latter end the smooth or straight edge a merges into the scalloped edge 11, formed by the outer rounded edges of the larger beads c,said larger beads in turn merging into the fanciful scroll D, the outline of which forms the outline of the outer enlarged end of the handle, a shield d depending from the scroll on the obverse side into the plain surface of the handle. At the lower or inner end of the handle is a scroll E, the outline of which forms the outline of that portion of the handle. The surface F between the beaded edges of the handle is left plain. The reverse side of the handle is decorated in conformity with the obverse side, as illustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawings.
What I claim is The design for a spoon or fork handle, substantially as herein shown and described.
FRED. HABENSAOK.
