TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, GEORGE B. OWEN, of Winsted, in the county of Litchfield, and State of Connecticut, have invented a. new, aud-original Design for a Clocl-0ase Front; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
rlhis invention relates to a. new and original design for the front of a wooden clock-case, such as have semicircular or rounded tops. In the accompanying sheet of drawings- Figure 1 is a. front view of a clock-case constructed accordiugto my design.
'Figure 2, a horizontal section of the same, taken in the line y y, iig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the base, on which the body, B, of the clock-case rests. This base is of quadrangular form, and its upper edge is rounded, forming a quarter circle, as shown at a in fig. V1. The sides of the case are vertical, and the top of semicircular form, and theedges of the front have a. continuous convex bead, b, within which is the door C, the shape of which conforms to\the shape of the space within the head l, (see tig. 1.) The opening in the door C, which exposes the dial D, is lined with a metal sash, E, which has taper sides, (see fig. 2,) and a.
llange, c, at its outer edge, parallel with-the face or outer side of lche door. i
F is a metal sashwith which vthe opening made in the door to expose the pcndnluui-bob is lined. This sash is of oval form, as shown in g. 1, and its sha-pe transversely is shown clearly in Figure 3. A rounded or semicircular top, 3, a concave, 4, at each side, with a plane suriace, 5, adjoining, are one concave, and n concave, 6, and plane surface, 7, adjoining, are the other concave. The door G, with the exception of' these sashes, is perfectly plain, or -freefrom any ornament.
Having describedmy invention, what I claim as new, and desire tosecure by Letters Patent, is-
The configuration and disposition of the parts, as herein shown and described, to form a new and original design for a clock-case.
GEO. B. OWEN.
