Be it known that I, GEORGE B. OWEN, of lVinsted, in the county of Litchfield, and State of Connecticut, have invented a. new and original Design for Clock-Case Fronts; andI do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for the fronts of wooden clock-cases, those which are of rectangular form. In the accompanying sheet of drawings- Figure 1 is a. front or face view of a clock-case constructed according to my improved design. Figure 2, a horizontal section of the same, taken in the line a; as, fig. l. Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts. Y A represents the base on which the body of the case rests, said base being of quadrangular form, and having its upper edge rounded,iforming a quarter circle, a, (see tlg. 1.)
i The body B of the ease is of rectangular form, and at the sides and top of' its front there is a convex bead, b. This bead is formed or composedof a. section of a circle, the top and side heads being joined by mitre-joints c c, as shown in iig. 1.
At the inner edges of the beads b there is a. gilt moulding, d, composed of a plane surface, 1, which adjoins the bead b, and a concave surface, 2, at its inner edge. The form or shape of this moulding is shown in fig. 2. C is the door-frame, the sides, top, and bottom of which adjoin the gilt moulding ol, the latter extending alL around the door, as shown in iig. 1.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The configuration and disposition of the parts, as herein shown and described, to\form a new and original design for a wooden clock-case front.
