DESIGN FOR A RANGE-FRONT.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JORDAN L. MOTT, of Mott Haven, in the county of \Vestchester, and State of New York, have originated a new Design for a Range-Front, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, and in which Figure 1 represents a front view of a range, illustrating my new design;

Figure 2, a sectional profile view, taken as indicated by the line a: a: in fig. l; and

Figure 3, a similar view, taken as denoted by the line 2 2.

Like letters refer to like parts throughout the several figures.

The design represented in the accompanying drawing is confined to the front or face of the range.

Said design embraces a flat base rim or border, a, swelled out in the centre, as at a, and rounded on its upper edge, which joins a flat moulding, b, that is mounted by a hollow moulding, c, the rounded or swelled-out portion a, with its portion of the mouldings l) and 0, being bounded on either side by small band-like projections cl cl, running upward.

Mounted on or above the hollow moulding 0, throughout its length, is a sunken, vertically-fluted portion, 2, surmounted by a hollow moulding, j, that unites it to a projecting flat fillet or band, 9.

The mouldings immediately above this, on either side of the central rounded, or swelled-out portion hereiubefore referred to, and which is continued upward, consists of a partial round, h, a fiat, i, a hollow, j, and a rounded head, k, which is mounted by a flat portion or surface, I.

Up along, near either edge of the front, is a partially-rounded pillar-like projection, m.

The doors in the front of the range, on both sides of its central portion, are of similar pattern, being of a square or parallelogramic general contour, so far as the two sides and bottom of each door is concerned, with arch-shaped tops, the borders to each of said doors being made up of mouldings A, the profile of which is shown in fig. 2, a fiat surface, B, rounded off on its outer edges, to unite with the moulding A, and carrying a central ornament, O, of the figure and profile shown in figs. l and 2.

The central portion of the front, above the swelled or fiat fillet or band portion 9, which has on it a lip, 9*, consists of a swelled-out or bellied partial round, h*, a similarly-bellicd fiat, i hollow, j, and swelledout or bellied, long, under-lip-like portion, D.

The central front door, which is likewise of swelledout or bellied general contour, is ornamented by an upper-lip-like portion, E, along its bottom, small rounded head, it, along its top, and has inner border or face-mouldings, l the profile of which is shown in fig. 3, and which embrace a series of vertically-arranged oblong openings, o, edged by heading, 1'.

Above this door, on the face of the central portion of the front, are a series of curved bracket-like projections or ornaments, s, to a sloping-upward and outward entablature, G, above which is a lid or door, H,

sloping as indicated in fig. 3, and ornamented by a moulding or mouldings, u, arranged to encompass or enclose the word Defiance.

That I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The design for range-fronts, herein shown and described.
