UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK G. HOLMES, OF PAVTUCKET, RHODE ISLAND, ASSIGNOR TO THE IIOIVARD STERLING COMPANY, OF PROVIDENCE, RIIODE ISLAND.
DESIGN FOR A DISH OR SIMILAR ARTICLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No 29,676, dated November 15, 1898;
Application filed October 13, 1898. Serial No. 693,455. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRANK G. HOLMES, of Pawtncket, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Dish or Similar Article, of which the following isa specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a front view showing my design. Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line A A of Fig. 1.
The leading or characteristic feature of my design consists in the dish provided with the raised oval border, on which the representation of wheat heads and leaves is raised in relief and bent to extend along the edge and over the border.
In the drawings, it indicates the central panel, and b the raised border; 0 c, the stems and leaves of Wheat-stalks, which are curved to conform to the border. The heads of wheat extend partially along the outer edge of the border and part of them over the border. The stems, leaves, and heads are in low relief. The heads d d are bunched together on each side and at the ends of the dish, presenting to the eye the appearance of headed wheatstalks extending along the edge of the dish, over the border on the opposite sides, and on the ends of the dish.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a dish or similar article substantially as herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
FRANK G, HOLMES.
