UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CONRAD EGGE, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO THE JAMES E. BLAKE & COMPANY, OF AT'lLEBOROUGlI, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR A BACK FOR BRUSHES OR SIMILAR ARTICLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,121, dated August 2, 1898.
Application fil d June 28, 1898. Serial in. 684,694. Term of patent '2 years.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, CONRAD Econ, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Back of a Brush or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a VlGW of the back of a brush or similar article, showing my design. Fig. 2 is a sectional View of the same on the line A13 of Fig. 1.
The leading features of my design consist in the raised oblong central panel on the main portion of the brush or similar article, as well as the handle, and the ornamentation surrounding the raised panels more fully described hereinafter.
In the drawings, 1 indicates the oblong raised panel on the main body of the brush. On each side of the panel 1 the raised bars 2 2 inclose a triangular space filled with the floral ornament 3. From the two raised bars 2 2 2 extend in opposite directions the foliated scrolls a at, the two center ones of which curve toward each other and meet on a line with the apex of the triangular figure formed by the bars 2 2. The other foliated scrolls ex- 0 tend toward the opposite ends of the ornamentation partly over the foliated scrolls 5, which extend from the longitudinal center of the body and are connected by the shell ornament 6. Small floral designs are placed between the foliated scrolls 5 5 and the central raised panel 1. The ornamentation consists 0E four sections of oppositely-disposed scrolls 4 and 5, having the shell ornaments '6 6 at the opposite ends.
011 the handle the raised oblong panel 7 is overlaid near its center by two honeysuckle ornaments, from which extend on each side the foliated scrolls 8, uniting at the center near the end of the handle, inclosing part of the raised panel '7 and surmounted by the floral ornament t). From the other sides of the honeysuckle ornaments overlying the panel 7 extend the foliated scrolls 10, inclosing the other part of the panel 7, uniting on the shank of the handle and terminating in the floral ornament 11.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for the back of a brush or similar article substantially as herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I havehereunto set my hand.
CONRAD EGGE.
