UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY BOGGIS, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A GAME-BOARD.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY BOGGIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia. and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced anew and original Design for Game- Boards, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof, and in which- Figure 1 represents a plan view of a game board constructed according to my design, and Fig. 2 is a section on the line a: a: thereof.
As shown in the drawings, the leading and material feature of my design is a game-board having a plurality of series of posts upon the upper surface thereof which are connected by lines extending vertically and horizontally of the board and diagonally thereof, forming avenues which are arranged in pairs and are distinguished from each other by shaded or unshaded portions.
Referring particularly to the drawings, it will be observed that at the center of the rectangular board 1 is located an upwardly-projecting post 2 and posts 3 3 upon opposite sides thereof, adjacent thereto, and in line with the horizontal center of the board. Similar posts 4 4 are located, respectively, above and below the post 2 at the same distance therefrom as the posts 3 3 and lying in line with the vertical center of the board. Adjacent to the opposite sides of the board 1 are posts 5, 6, and 7, located relatively to each other in lines parallel with the sides of the board. The posts 6 and 7 are the same distance from the posts 5 as the posts 4 are from the post 2. The said posts 7 upon the opposite sides of the board are connected by a line 8, which extends parallel to the horizontal center of the board and through the post 4. The posts 6 upon the opposite sides of the board are connected by a similar horizontal line 9, which is parallel to the horizontal center of the board and extends through the lower post 4. The line 10, extending through the horizontal center of the board, connects the posts 5 5 and extends through the posts 3 3 and 2. By the lines 8, 9, and
10 two parallel avenues 11. and 12 are formed, the latter being distinguished from the former by shaded lines.
Located on opposite sides of the vertical center of the board and between the posts 4 and 7, 2 and 5, and 4 and 6 are posts 13, 14, and 15, the posts 13 being intersected by the line 8, the posts 14 by the line 10, and the posts 15 by the line 9.
Adjacent to the upper and lower ends of the board 1 are arranged a series of three posts 16, 17, and 18, the posts 17 being connected by a line 19, which extends through the vertical center of the board and the posts 4 4 and 2. The posts 18 are connected by a line 20, which extends parallel to the vertical center of the board and through the righthand post 3. The posts 16 are connected by a similar line 21, which lies upon the opposite side of the line 19 and extends through the left-hand post 3. The lines 19, 20, and 21 form two avenues 22 and 23, the former being distinguished from the latter by shaded lines.
Located upon opposite sides of the horizon tal center of the board and between the posts 3 and 16, 4 and 17, and 3 and 18 are posts 24, 25, and 26, the posts 24 being intersected by the line 21, the posts 25 by the line 19, and the posts 26 by the line 20.
Connecting the posts 5 at the right-hand side of the board and the posts 17 at the lower side of the board is a diagonal line 27, and connecting the adjacent posts 7 and 16 and 6 and 18 are diagonal lines 28 and 29, which are parallel to the line 27 and located upon opposite sides thereof. The said lines 27, 2S, and 29 form avenues 30 and 31, the former being distinguished from the latter by shaded lines. Between the posts 5, 6, and 7 and 6, 17, and 18 and intersected by the lines 27, 29, and 28 are posts 32, 33, and 34:. Connecting the posts 5 at the left-hand side of the board 1. and the post 7 at the upper side thereof is a diagonal line 35, the same lying parallel to the line 27, heretofore referred to. Upon opposite sides of the line 35 are lines 36 and 37, which connect, respectively, the adjacent posts 7 and 16 and 6 and 18, the said lines What I claim as my invention is- The design for a game-board, substantially 10 as shown and described.
