WITNESSES: INVENTOR UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MAJOR ROMEYN JEIVELL, OF SENECA FALLS, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A GAME-BOARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,320, dated. September 6, 1898.
Application filed February 23, 1898. Serial No. 671,390. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAJOR ROMEYN J EW- ELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Seneca Falls, in the county of Seneca and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Game- Boards, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part thereof, and in which Figure 1 is a top or plan view of a gameboard embodying my design; and Figs. 2 and 3 are vertical sectional views taken, respectively, on the lines 2 2 and 3 3, Fig. 1.
The leading or material feature of my design consists of a rectangular board 1, having a plane or fiat top surface forming a field from which projects a series of U-shaped loops 4. The U-shaped loops 4 project at right angles to the plane or fiat field-surface of the board 1 and are relatively and successively arranged in a manner corresponding to the ordinary arrangement of wickets upon a croquet-field. At each end of the series of projections 4 are arranged projecting pins or stakes 5, arising from the plane-surface field of the board 1. In the top surface of the board 1, adjacent to the edge thereof and surrounding the plane-surface field, are formed channels or depressions 2, of curved shape in cross-section, and at the intersection of the respective wings of said channels or depressions are formed circular depressions or recesses 3.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The design for a game-board, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in presence of the subscribing witnesses, this 28th day of January, 1898.
MAJOR ROMEYN JEVVELL.
Witnesses:
