To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM II. PERRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Concord, in the county of Merrimac and State of New Hampshire, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for Monuments, of which the following is a specification.
In the accompanying drawing, figures and letters of reference will be used to designate the distinguishing features of my design.
The base is shown at 1 and is oblong in form, having four vertical sides terminating at theirtops in an obtuse frustu mofa pyramid, (shown at 2,) upon which rests the pedestal 3, which is also oblong and has four vertical sides terminating in an acute frustum of a pyramid, (shown at 4,) one or more sides of which are provided with a raised tablet 5. An oblong shaft 6, having four vertical sides, terminates at the top in the form of an obtuse wedge 7. The lower end of said shaft 6 terminates in an inverted frustum of a pyramid 8, which meets the upper end of the frustu m 4.
Another feature of my design is the ornamentation of the shaft (5, consisting of a dopressed tablet 9, to be formed upon one or more of its vertical sides, and the V-grooves 10, located one near the top and one near the bottom edge of each of the said vertical sides. The ornamentation further consists in surfaces of a different character, as seen at A, ii, and 0, those shown at A representing rock- Work, at B hammered work, and at O polished Work. The tablet 9 is finished in both hammered and polished work, each having the configuration shown.
Ilavin g described my improved design, what I claim is- The design for a monument, substantially as herein described and shown.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
