UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE K. YOUNG, OF AUBURN, NElV YORK.
DESIGN FOR A HAMMER-BODY.
T0 60% whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE K. YOUNG, of Auburn, in the county of Cayuga, in the State of New York, have invented a new and useful Design for a Hammer-Body, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a full, clear, and eX- act description.
My invention relates to a new and useful design for hammers, of which the following is a full and clear specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings,in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of a hammer which embodies my invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is an end View.
or represents the hammer-body, provided with a circular opening I) and which has its outer sides g, surrounding the opening, correspondingly curved, as shown in Fig. 2. Ex-
tending in one direction from the curved sides g is a projection 71, which has a width less than that of the central portion of the body and which is made exceptionally thin, as shown in Fig. 2. Projecting in one direction from the body is the head a, the outer end of which is made octagonal in form, while that portion of the body from which the head extends is made rectangular, as shown at 0 in Fig. 3. The outer sides of the body between that portion having the rounded edges g and the head are curved inwardly, as shown at n, Figs. 1 and 2.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is e The design for a hammer-body, substantially as shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 25th day of September, 1897.
