Be it known that I, \VILLIAM R. MACINTOSH, a citizen of the United States, residingat Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New 5 York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Fastening Device; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. My invention relates to a new and original design for a fasteningder'ice or clip.
The object of my invention is the production of a fastening device or clip simple and r 5 attractive in appearance and one adapted for the purpose of fastening together sheets of paper, documents, tags to cloth, and various other articles without puncturing the articles. The leading feature of my design consists in a fastening device made of a single piece of wire bent so as to form a heart-shaped body portion having depending resilient arms adapted to impinge upon the body portion.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which is a front view in elevation.
Referring to the drawing, a is one resilient arm extending upwardly to a point Z), then curving substantially at right angles forms the curved portion 0. 0
(Z is one side of the body portion and extends froin the curved part c in a downwardly inwardly direction to a point (2. Extending from the point e in an upwardly outwardly direction is another sided of the body. The 5 side (1' terminates in the curved part c, said curved part 0' extending to a point I).
a is another resilient arm similar to the arm a. The two sides or parts (Z and (Z' are crossed by the arms a and a, respectively, as 40 shown in the drawing, and the arms impinge upon the said sides at their respective points of intersection.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- 5 The design for a fastening device, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
