HENRY L. IVALLACE, OF IVALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE R. IVALLACE & SONS MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SPOONS, 84.0.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,854, dated August 4, 1896.
Application filed June 29, 1896- Serial No. 597,480. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY L. \VALLACE, of \Vallingford, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for the Handles of Spoons, Forks, &o.; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a face view of ahandle embodying my design.
This invention relates to a design for the handles of spoons, forks, and like articles of table service; and the design consists in the configuration and ornamentation of the handle as shown in the accompanying illustration.
As herein shown, the shank of the handle curves inward from its junction with the bowl, then tapers gradually outward to a point a, where it curves inward and then outward, forming an oval section b, surmounted by a crown c. The ornamentation of the handle consists of a medallion A, set in the oval section 6, surrounded by scrollwork B, surmounted by a small medallion C, set in the crown c, and surrounded by a scroll and leaf ornamentation D. At the outward curve a of the handle is a small oval medallion E, surrounded by scrolls F, having foliations G rising to the scrollwork B above, and similar foliations G depending upon the tapered shank of the handle, the ornamentation of 35 HENRY L. WALLACE.
