Description

DESIGN.
H. ILL.
GASTBR PIN.
No. 25,521. Patented May 19, 1896.
INVENTOR:
HENRY nu.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY ILTt, OF NEIYARK, NEWV JERSEY.
DESIGN FOR A CASTER-PIN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,521, dated May 19, 1896.
Application filed December 18,1895. Serial No. 572,601. Term of patent 14 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
lle it known that I, IIENRY ILL, a citizen of the l nitcd States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a certain new and useful Design for Caster-Pins; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description. of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
My invention relates to a novel design for caster-pins; and it consists in the novel configuration shown.
The design is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of my novel design of caster-pin, and Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the same, taken on line .1 in Fig. 1.
The leading feature of mynovcl design is acaster-pin having a plain cylindrical portion a, which terminates in an oval head surrounded by a beaded or beveled edge a, as shown. The upper portion a of the casterpin is of a slightly-increased diameter over the diameter of the plain cylindrical portion a, said enlarged portion being ornamented with an especial con figuration, having a ropelike appearance. Said enlarged portion (a is bounded at the point where it joins the plain cylindrical surf ace (1' with angularly-arranged portions of, which produce a zigzag edge, and from which extend a number of longitudinal ridges a and depressions a, which are helical curves and form half-turns to produce the said rope-like ornamentation of the cylindrical surface a, and also produce amanypointed star-shaped figure in cross-section, as illustrated in Fig. 3. Said helical ridges and depressions are closely disposed on said en larged surface a of the caster-pin and terminate directly at the upper and free edge of said pin, as represented in Fig. 1.
The essential and novel feature of the design fora caster-pin is a plain cylindrical por tion (1' at the lower part of the pin and the upper and slightly-enlarged portion (I, having many longitudinal and helical ridges and depressions, forming a rope-like ornamentation of the said upper part of the caster-pin, pro ducing a many-pointed star when the casterpin is viewed from the top, and said enlarged portion having the rope-like ornamentation bounded by a zigzag edge at the point where it joins the plain cylindrical surface of the pin.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is The design for a caster-pin, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the invention set forth above I have hereunto set my hand this 17th day of December, 1895.
