Description

D8375. OR 0259567 Ex DESIGN.
H. ILL. OASTBB PIN.
No. 25,567. Patented June 2, 1896.
WITNESSES: lNVENTORi Low. )(SW HENRY BLLW ATTORNEY UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY ILL, OF NEIVARK, NEW JERSEY.
DESlGN FOR A CASTER-PIN.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY ILL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a certain new and useful Design for Caster-Pins; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
My invention relates to a novel design for acasterpin; and it consists in the novel configuration shown.
The design is clearly illustrated in the aceonipanying drawings, in which- Figure l isa side elevation of a novel design of caster-pin; and Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the same, taken on line cc in said Fig. 1.
The leading feature of my novel design is a caster-pin (I, having a cylindrical portion a, which terminates in an oval head a surrounded by abeaded or beveled edge a, as shown. Above said plain cylindrical portion a said caster-pin is formed with the plain cylindrical bands a and the enlarged cylindrical bands of, which alternate, as represented in said Fig. 1. Each band a is ornamented with an especial configuration having a rope-like appearance. Said bands (t are bounded at their lower and upper edges by angularlydisposed parts a and a respectively, fornr ing zigzag edges from which extend a number of longitudinal ridges a and depressions a, which are helical curves and produce the said rope-like ornamentation on said enlarged portions or bands a and also producing a many-pointed-star-shaped figure in cross-section, as illustrated in Fig. 2.
Above the topmost zigzag edge the remaining portion of the caster-pin is of aplain cylindrical shape o which is bounded at the top by a slightly-curved edge, as shown; but said cylindrical portion a, while of my invention, may be varied or entirely omitted without changing the general effect of the design of the caster-pin, the essential and novel feature of which is a plain cylindrical portion a at the lower part of the pin, and the alternate arrangement of the plain cylindrical bands a and the enlarged bands of, having many longitudinal and helical ridges and depressions, forming a rope-like appearance, bounded by zigzag edges at the top and bottom of each band, as illustrated.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- The design for a caster-pin, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the invention set forth above I have hereunto set my hand this 17th day of December, 1895.
HENRY ILL.
