UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THOMAS SINGLETON, JR., 013 NEV BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO THE MOUNT WASHINGTON GLASS COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A GLASS VESSEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Design No. 23,497, dated July 24, 1894.
Application filed March 17, 1894. Serial No. 604,106. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS SINGLETON, J r., of New Bedford, in the county of Bristol and "tate of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Glass Vessel, of which the followingis aspecification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, showing the same.
Figure 1 is a bottom plan view, and Fig. 2 a central sectional view of a dish containing my design.
The leading feature of my design consists in a raised polygonal base, at each side of which is an ox-bow curve with its lower part contiguous to said side, and its ends on opposite sides of the dishs margin. These oxbow curves intersect and. are intersected by curved grooves, each of which begins at the rim of the dish and extends downwardly to the angle formed by the junction of two sides of the polygonal base and thence upwardly to the rim; portions of the ox-bow curves forming two sides of fan ornaments around the margin of the dish, and alternating with diamond-shaped ornaments, two sides of each of which are formed by portions of intersecting ox-bow curves, while the other two sides are formed by converging portions of the other curved grooves.
In the drawings, A is a raised polygonal base, and B is a series of ox-bow curves, the lower middle portions of which are contiguous to the sides act the polygonal base, there being as many ox-bow curves B as there are sides of the base. These curves B intersect at l), and are intersected by the plain grooves D, which reach from one side of the dish to the other. Between the portions b b'of the ox-bow curves B are fan ornaments F, a series of which extend around the margin of the dish. Intermediate the fan figures are diamond-shaped figures G, the longer sides of which are formed by portions d of the plain grooves D, the shorter sides of these diamondshaped figures being formed by the portions 1) of the ox-bow curves B. Intermediate the fan figures and diamond shaped figures are smaller diamond-shaped figures G, and by the intersection of lines other points (3: are formed. The faces of the diamond-shaped figures G are ornamented, and the polygonal base A is ornamented with a rosette A.
What I claim is- The design for a glass vessel herein set forth.
