DESIGN FOR A BOX.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,312, dated May 29, 1894.
Application filed March 7 1894. Serial No. 502,778, Term of patent 3% years,
To a. whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, SETH WILLIAM llnnnrr'r, citizen of the United States, residing at Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for Boxes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to a new and original design for boxes and it cousistsin the ornamental configurations and arrangement of decorative features hereinafter referred to and claimed.
The design is illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein the same is shown in top plan in Figure 1, and in elevation in Fig. 2.
In the drawings A represents the cover of the box substantially rectangular with its corners slightly rounded. On the center of the cover A, are the representations of the two pipes B, their stems extending inwardly and upwardly and crossing each other at a 5 point near the center of the cover.
0 and 0' indicate represen tations of matches,
arranged one below the other and below the pipes.
1) indicates a representation of a ribbon, the same being represented as looped around and across the stems of the pipes at their crossing, its lower end carried down and represented as passing below and up over the matches at or near their centers. The base portion of the box is shown at A.
The essential feature of the design is the box cover having thereon the representation of the pipes with the matches below the same and the representation of the ribbon extending from the stemsof the pipes to the matches.
