DESIGN FOR A CLOCK-CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,724, dated October 23, 1894.
Application filed September 25, 1894- Serial No. 524,114- Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN HOPSON, Jr., of New London, in the county of New London and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for Clock-Cases, (Case E;) and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be afull, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in-
Figure l, a face view; Fig. 2, a horizontal section.
This invention relates to a design for clockcases, and the design consists in the configuration and ornamentation as shown in the accompanying illustrations.
The case is substantially elliptical in form, and straight at the back.
The base A of the case is rounded, and curves sharply inward, and then outward, forming a narrow rib B, the projecting base and depression above it being ornamented byi afseries of scroll ornamentations 0, in low re 1e The center of the case, which has the usual dial-opening D partially surrounded by a ribbed border E, curves sharply backward, and is surmounted by a plain overhanging canopy F, slightly curved upward at the center, to conform to the curve of the d ial opening.
At each side of the case projects a series of elaborate shell and scroll ornaments G, springing from the base, and curving upward toward the top, where they are met by a similar canopy H, and curving downward, form a central shell ornament I, forming the apex of the case, all as shown in the accompanying illustrations.
I claim- The design for aclock-case as herein shown and described.
