SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,535, dated June 13, 1893.

To all whom it may concern:
llc it known that I, OLIVER MLIUAH'XUY, of Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Dcsign for a Coffin-Handle; and I do hereby dedare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a face view.
This invention relates toadesign fol-collinhandles, and the design consists in the configuration and ornamentation as hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying illustration.
Each of the socket-plates of my newly designed colfin-handlc, has a raised, ribbed rectangular panel A, having the appearance of being composed of convex moldings initcrcd together. This panel is surrounded at a lower plane than its face, by an elaborate hand in the rococo style of decoration, and co1np0scd of shell-forms B, and long scrolls C,thc upper and lower portions of the band, and the sides of the band, corresponding to each other. A projection D, having a smooth surface, is located in the center of each of the panels A. Drops E E depending from the said projections, are provided upon their outer faces with ornamentation of a similarcharacter, and consisting of shell-like forms l scrolls G, and beads If. The central portion I, of the handie-bar is made plain, the bar terminatingat each end in ornate tips, the surface of which is broken by bands J, .l, J andJ. 'lhe narrow space between the hands J and J contains an ornamentatiml of heads K. The concaved space between the bands .I' and J is filled in with alternate sheaf-like forms L, and rope-like forms M. The convcxed space be tween the bands .I and J is occupied with panels N, inclcsing double shell-like ornaments 0, the extreme end of the tip lying out side of the band .I" being occupied by an ornate band of scrolls P, placed side by side.
