FRANKLIN S. MCKENNEY, OF DETROIT, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO J. N. IJONGYEAR, OF MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN.
DESIGN FOR A BUTTON-FASTENING.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Design No. 25,206, dated March 3, 1896.
Application filed December 9, 1895. Serial No. 571,592. Term of patent 14 years.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANKLIN MCKEN- XEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, county of \Vayne, State of Michigan, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Button-Fastening; and I declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
In the drawings, Figure l. is a "icw in perspective of my fastening, showing the prongs projecting upward. Fig. 2 is a plan View of the head on the side opposite the prongs. Fig. 3 is a reverse plan View from that shown in Fig. 2.
My fastening has a head A and two prongs a a.
The leading feature of my design consists of an elongated head, the main portion a, of which is convoluted at each end thereof, the portions a a of the head toward the base of the prongs being curved or coiled inward toward the center of the fastening, the head between the two convoluted portions having the appearance of a single connecting-strand. The extremities of the metal from which the fastening is made, after being so shaped, are bent at substantially right angles to the head to form the prongs, as shown. A marginal flange or border is formed entirely about the base of each of the prongs, the base of the prongs being entirely within the contour of said flange.
What I claim is The design fora bntton-fastenin g, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I sign this specification in the presence of two witnesses.
FRANKLIN S. MCKENNEY.
Witnesses N. S. WRIGHT, MARY A. MARTIN.
