DESIGN FOR A MONUMENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No, 23,340, dated June 5, 1894. Application filed February 1,1894. Serial No. 498,798. Term of patent '7 yearshaving a roll cornice and a cap consisting of a four sided dome and domical projections on all sides, all of which will be pointed out by figures and letters of reference.
An ordinary base 1, having four vertical sides and terminating at their top in an obtuse frustum of a pyramid 2, and pedestal 3 having four vertical sides also terminating at their top in an obtuse frustum 4, of a pyramid, is provided upon which the shaft is One or more of the vertical sides of the pedestal 3, may be ornamented with a raised tablet 5, on which to place any desired inscription.
The shaft 6, has for the main portion four vertical sides, or, they may be quite vertical if desired, joining at their bottoms the frustum 1, and
having their top curvilinear being highest at their center as shown, their highest point terminating in a frontal 7, at either side of which is a raised ornamental edge, 8, the lower lines of which may have the configuration shown at 9. Each side of the shaft has also a tablet 10, defined by a border line having the configuration shown at 11.
Rising above the raised edge 8, are thecurvilinear cornice pieces 12, which at first recede and terminate at their top in an outward projecting roll as shown at 13. Above the cornice the shaft terminates in a four sided dome 14, having the domical projections 15, on all sides of its base. The letters AB, denote the styles of finish, respectively, hammered work, and polished work.
