DESIGN FOR A SPOON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,046, dated September 15, 1891.
Application filed July 2, 1891. Sen'al No. 398,318. Term ofpatent 7 years.
To all whom, it may concern.-
lle it known that I, GEORGE \VJLKINsON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Ornamentation of the Ilandles of Spoons, Forks, &c.; and I do hereby declare the following specification, taken in connection with the accom- IO panyingdrawing, forming a part of the same,
to he a description thereof.
In the illustration a front or face View of a spoon is shown, the handle of which is ornamented with the design.
The design is arranged to toliow the outline of the handle and is made up of the following elements: Atthe upper end or head of the handle A is located a leaf 0, which extends down along the left-hand side of the handle.
Below this leaf a scroll l) is located, and below this scroll a compound leaf-scroll c c is arranged. Below the scroll c c a partiallybeaded scroll (Z is located, and below this a scroll e, which extends to the lower end of the handle. On the right-hand side of the handle and below the leaf (t a beaded serollf is arranged, and below this a compound leafscroll g g. Ilelowthis compound scroll a leafseroll h is located, and below this a scroll 2', which extends to the lower end of the han- 0 die. Upon the upper portion of the face of the handle and about midway between its edges a shield I. is arranged, the edge or outline of which is composed of scrolls, and the field of which is ornamented.
\Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In adesign for the ornamentation of the handles of spoons, forks, &c., the leaf a, located at the upper of end of the handle, and the scrolls Z) c (l efg 71 i, extending upon the face downwardly from said leaf along the outline of the handle, substantially as de scribed and shown.
2. In a design for the ornamentation of the handles of spoons, forks, 850., the leaf a, located at the upper end of the handle, the scrolls l) c (l ef g h 1', extending upon the face downwardly from said leaf along the outline of the handle, and the shield k, located upon the upper portion of the face of the handle, substantially as described and shown.
