To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. JAIvIoU- NEAU, a citizen of the United States, residing atNewark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Handles for Spoons, Forks, or other Articles, technically known to the trade as Flat Ware; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exactdescription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same,referenee being had to the accompanying, drawings, and toletters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The gure of the drawing is a front plan of a spoon of my new design, of which the following is a specification, the one figure being deemed suoient to fully illustrate the same.
rlhe leading feature of the design consists in the handle of a spoon or fork which is in a shape indicative of a mans head and bust and mining implements.
In said drawing, a indicates a bowl of a spoon, the concave side being shown, and b indicates the handleof said spoon. At the end -of the handle opposite the bowl the same .I
is broadened ont and has a shape of a mans head c and bust d in outline and front ornamentation. Below tlie bust portion the handle is ornamented with representations of mining implements, a pick f and shovel g being particularly displayed. From the blade of the shovel coin-like disks h are represented as falling. Toward the bowl the narrow shank h of the handle is ornamented with a representation of mountain i.
What I claim is- The design for a spoon or other article of flat ware herein described, which consists of a handle the front of which. is ornamented with representations of the head of a man and mining implements, substantially as shown and described.
