SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,252, dated December 22, 1891. Application tiled June l1, 1891. Serial No. 395,968 Term of patent '7 years.
.'l'o all whom it may concern,.-
le it known that I, NVILLIAM Il. The figure of the drawing is a front plan of a spoon having a handle of my new design, of which the following is a specification, the one ligure being deemed snicient to fully illustrate the same.
The leading feature of the design consists in the handle for spoons, forks, and such like articles, with the phenix-shaped extremity, with llame-shaped ornamentation beneath or below the phenix representation, as will now be described.
In the said drawing, ct indicates the bowl of a spoon, I) the narrow or shank-shaped part thereof, and c is the wider flange-like part. At the extremity of the said wider part the saine is shaped in resemblance to a phenix, as at d, with wings nplifted in aconventional style. lletween the nplifted wings is a disklike ornamentf, shaped in resemblance to the snn as it rises above waves or clouds g, and from said disk-like ornament are rays lL, extending ontwardly toward the border of the handle. Beneath the phenix'shaped part, toward the narrower part of the handle, is ornamentation in resemblance to Flame, from which the pllenix appears to rise.
W hat I claim as new is- 'lhe design for a handle for a spoon, &c., hereindescribed, which consists in the handle having a narrow shank-shaped part b, and a wider part c, ornainented in resemblance to a conventional phenix rising from fiames, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 26th day of ll'lay, 1891.
