Patented Sept UNITED STATES MICHEL MELLINGER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO WARREN, LANGE PATENT OFFICE.
' 8a 00., OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR FRIEZE DECORATION.
srncmca'nox forming part of Design Nb.
17,745. dated September 27. 1887.
Application filed August 22, 1887. Serial 110.947.617. Term of patent 3} years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, MICHEL MELLTNGER, a citizen of France. residing in New York city, in the county and State of New York, have in- 5 vented a new and original Design for Frieze Decorations, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.
The invention relates to a design for a frieze shown on paper or similar articles; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The accompanying photograph is aface view of paper showing my new design.
My frieze has a lower ornamental border, above which is a row of large wnventionalized figures, occurring at regular intervals and hav- 20 ing a general triangular shape. The middle portion of the frieze is ornamented with a se ries of arching lines intersecting one another, and thus forming a lattice work. Parallel with and similar in arrangementto this series of arches is a second series of arches less lllOlDh nent than the former and increasing the latticelike efieot. Running lengthwise of the design and underlying the lattice work are ornamental bands, some with scalloped edges. In the spaces formed at the base of the arches are other ornamental figures. The frieze has a narrow outer margin with ornamental figures.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by letters Patent, is-
The design for a frieze, consisting of the design suhstantially as shown.
