SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,293faatea May 3, 18a?.
Application filed March QS, 1887. Serial No. 232,819. Term of Intent i'years.
To @ZZ whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD E. JOHNSON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Painesville, in the county of Lake and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Design for Borders; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part ofthis speciticatiomand in Which- Figurel is a View of one form. of my newdesign for border as seen upon a metallic binding for carpets and floor or oil cloths. Figs. 2 and 3 are views of other forms of the same.
Similar' numerals of reference indicate cor responding parts in all the figures.
My design has relation to borders, and more particularly to such as are adapted to be used upon metallic bindings for carpets, oil-cloths, door-cloths, and similar articles; and it censists in the new ornamental design for the same, as hereinafter more full y described and claimed. y
In the accompanying drawings, the numeral l indicates the binding-strip, which is formed with two (more or less) broken longitudinal beaded lines, 2, upon its face, and with one longitudinal uninterruptedbeaded line, 8, nearthe inner edge parallel withthe broken beaded lines, which are parallel with yeach other and with the edges of the strip. One or more broken beaded lines may be made upon the face of the strip, Fig. 2 of the drawings showing three beaded lines with one unbroken beaded line near the inner edge. The broken beaded lines are preferably made with their joints or spaces lapping, but the spaces between the broken beaded lines may, if desired, be made registering, as shown in Fig.
Having thus described my design, Iclaim and desire tosecure by Letters Patent of the United States# l. The design for an ornamental border for binding for carpets, oil-cloths, and similar articles, consisting of two parallel broken beaded lines having their joints or spaces lapping, and an unbroken beaded line parallel te thel broken lines near the inner edge of the strip, as shown and set forth.
2. In a design for au ornamental border for binding forcarpets, oil-cleths,and similar articles, consistingof two parallel broken beaded lines and an unbroken beaded line parallel to the broken lines and near the inner edge ot' the strip, as shown and set forth.
