ALONZO JACKSON GRIFFIN, OF \VILKESBARRE, lENNSYlJVANlr-v DESIGN FOR A FENCE-BAR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,239, dated April 5 1887.
Application tiled November 20, 1886. Serial No. 219,534.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALONZO JACKSON GRIF- FIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at \Vilkes-Barrc, in the county of Luzcrne and State of Pennsylvania, haveinvented and produced a new and original Design for a Screen or Fence and the Like, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof, and in which the fign re illustrates an elevation of a single bar or element of my newly'de signed screen or fence.
The leading feature of my design consists of a series of two or more figures of approximately the shape of a triangle, with the apex of one triangle placed to the base of the triangle adjoining the same, the upper ter1niual ends of the sides of one triangle, which form the apex thereof, being formed into a compound curve and joining the inclined sides of the triangle adjoining the same.
In the drawing, A B designate the figures of approximately the shape of a triangle, and with the apex a of the figure 13 placed to the base of the figure A. lhe inclined converging sides 0 c of the triangular figures are curved upon themselves at (Z and again ate, where they join the lower ends of the corresponding sides of the figure A adjacent thereto. These curves (1 e are of the nature of a continuous compound curve, and they are projected above the base of the figure A and between the con- Term of patent 7 years verging sides a 0 thereof. The compound curve (I e of one inclined side, 0, of the figure B is disposed on one side of the vertical longitudinal axis of the figure A, and the corresponding curve d e of the other side, 0', is dis posed on the opposite side of the said axis. These compound curves of the converging sides 0 c of one figure, as 1), are out of contact with each other and with the sides 0 c of the figure A, into which they are extended or projected, thereby leaving i ntermediatespaees, ff, between the curves and the sides of the figure A.
I claim- The design fora screen or fence herein shown and described, the same consisting of a series oftwo or more figures, A ll, of approximately theshape ofisosceles triangles placed together, with the apex of one triangle extending into the base of the triangular figure adjoining the same, the converging sides of the figure ll being each formed into a compound curve, which extends between the sides of the figure A and is out of contact with the corresponding curve of the other side of the figure B.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ALONZO JACKSON GRIFFIN.
