DESIGN FOR A SHINGLE OR ROOFING-PLATE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,208, dated March 27,1888.
Application filed May 6 1887. Serial No. 237.367. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JACOB S. THORN, of the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Metallic Roofing-Plates or Shingles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part thereof, and in which Figure l is a perspective view of my newlydesigned roofing-plate, and Fig. 2 a side view of the same, these two views being deemed necessary to fully illustrate my design.
My new design consists of a roofing-plate having the form of a lozenge or four-sided figure,with one point thickened and provided with an elongated projection extending along its upper surface along the median line connecting such thickened point with the opposite point of the lozenge.
A is the face or upper visible part of the shingle, which is of the lozenge or four-sided outline shown.
B is the raised or struck-up lower point of the lozenge-shaped shingle.
G is the elevated elongated boss, formed, as shown, along the median line extending from the elevated point of the lozenge to the opposite point. The dotted lines indicate structural details which may be omitted or modified in any way without affecting my design.
I claim- The design fora metallic shingle or roofingplate herein shown and described, the same consisting of a lozenge-shaped shingle having 5 one of its corners thickened, and an elevated elongated projection extending along the median line drawn from saidthickcned corner to the corner opposite.
