Description
ROBERT H. WHITE.
Improvement in Fences.
Ne. 126,362, ParentedApri|3o,1a72.
PATENT CFFICE.
ROBERT H. WHITE, OF BILLINGSVILLE, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN FENCES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l`26,362, dated April 30, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT H. WHITE, of Billingsville, in the county of Union and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Farm-Fences; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of `this specification.
My invention relates particularly to that class of fences in which the panels are made separate from each other, each panel being a whole by itself; and it consists inthe construction and arrangement ot' the connections between said panels, as will be hereinafter more lfully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure l represents a side elevation, and Fig. 2 is a plan view of my fence.
, A A represent two fence-panels, constructed in the ordinary way of horizontal boards connected at their ends and center by vertical bars, or in any other suitable manner. B B are the connections between the panels A A, there being two or more of such connections at each end of each panel. The connection B is made of wire or other suitable material,
bent in the middle, so as to form a double ring, a, and the ends of the wire fastened in staples b b, attached to the end bars, one| on each side of the fence-panel. When the two panels are put together, the double rings of the corresponding connections are put together so as to interlock, and then a pin or rod, d, is passed through which joins the panels together, forming a zigzag fence.
By means of these connections the fence may readily be taken down and put up again, when desired.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new7 and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The fence-panel connection B, made of wire or other suitable material, forming a double ring, a, in the center, and the ends fastened in staples b b attached to the panel, substantially as herein set forth.
2. The combination of fence-panels A A, connections B B, with central interlocking double rings a a, staples b b, and pins orrods d d, all substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.V
ROBERT H. WHITE.
