IMPROVEMENT IN BOARD FENCES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 195,426, dated September 1 7; applicatio filed July 28, 1877.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LANSFORD F. WILDER, of Sumner, in the county of Gratiot and State of Michigan, have invented a new and valuable lmprovementin Portable Board Fences; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.

Figure 1 is a side view of my portable fence. Fig. 2 is a detail View of my double hook for uniting the parts of the fence, and Fig. 3 is a perspective detail view.

The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a portable fence, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In the accompanying drawings, A A represent the panels of myimproved portablefence, consisting of horizontal boards overlapping each other, and connected together by vertical boards B B. The vertical end bars B of each panel project above it, and are connected together by a wire, I, hooked at its ends, and engaging with the projecting upper ends of the vertical boards B.

D D represent stakes inserted from opposite sides, and crossing each other between the two upper boards of the panel, their lower ends being inserted in the ground.

The stakes D D are connected together in pairs by means of a single rod, G, bent in the center to pass under one of the panel-boards, and provided with hooks at its ends, which engage with the stakes.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The overlapping fence panels A A, provided with the central vertical boards B and end vertical boards B, extending above the panels and connected by a removable wire, I, at their upper ends, in combination with the cross-stakes D D and rod G, bent at its middle, and provided with hooked ends, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
