SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16,643. dated April 20, 1886.
A ppliention filed March 4, 1886. Serial No. 194,079.
To all whom it; may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWIN C. RU'IIIVEN, (:assignor to DAVID WOLFE BRU(E,) ofthecity and county of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
5 have invented and produced a new Design of Printing-Type, of which the following is a specification.
The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographic impression, to which reference is made; and it consists of a letter supported upon a lighter base or groundwork of reticulated character interspersed by a series of small heavy dots, the letter being placed nearer the left-hand bound ary of the groundwork than the right hand.
The character of the design is preserved in the diphthongs, symbol &, the punctuationmarks, numerals, and dollar and p0und-ster ling marks.

The design for a font of printing-type, as shown, the same consisting of a character supported upon a lighter base or groundwork of reticulated character interspersed by a series of small heavy dots, the letter being placed nearer the left-hand boundary of the ground work than the right hand.
