UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VILLIAM (7. PERKINS, OF \VOROESTER, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO THE \VIRE GOODS COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
, DESIGN FOR A WIRE HANDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 14,038, dated July 3, 1883.
Application filed April 4, 1883.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, \ViLLIAM C. PERKINS, of W'orcester, in the county of orcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new 5 and original Design for \Vire Handles; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and in 10 Which- Figure 1 represents a top or plan view, and Fig. 2 a side view, of my aforesaid new design for Wire handles.
Heretofore wire handles have been made in I 5 a curved or elliptical form, or with a straight shank and curved ends next to their points of fastening, or, in other words, by forming a continuous curve between the two eyes or said points of fastening of the handle.
The main feature of my design consists in a bend, A, formed at each end of the handle at an angle of forty-five degrees to the shank or straight part B of said handle and to the eyes 0 G for fastening the same in position. Said Term of patent 14 years.
bends A do not extend entirely to the eyes C 25 from the long straight part B, intervening bends,D,being formed in the wire between said miter-bends A and the eyes (7 at right angles to shank or straight part B and said eyes or the line of fastening of the handle, as is shown 30 in Fig. 2 of the drawings. This, as will be seen, makes a unique and very tasty design for a wire handle, being much more pleasing in appearance to the eye than the old style of handles now in use. 3 5
Having described my new design for wire handles, what I claim therein as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a wire handle herein shown and described, the same consisting of the long 0 straight part or shank B, miter-bends A A, right-angle bends D D, and fastening-eyes O C, substantially as set forth.
WILLIAM C. PERKINS.
