DESIGN FOR SADDLE-CUPS.
Specification forming part of Design No. 8,948, dated February 1, 1876; application filed November 23, 1875. [Term of Patent 14 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Moses SEWARD, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for Saddle-Clips; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in-

This invention relates to a design for the article known to the trade as saddle-clipthat is, the clip by which the spring-saddle of a carriage is secured to the axle; and the invention consists in a right-angular clip, the transverse section of which shows a flat cen tral rib with righ t-angular edges, with the surface between the rib and the edges concave, as more fully hereinafter described.
a is the bar, and b b the two legs. In transverse section these parts show a rib, c, and two edges, (1, at substantially right angles to the rib. From the rib the surface each side is concave, or segmental form, down to the edges, as seen in Fig. 2.
1 claim- The design for carriage-saddle clip, consist ing of a right-angular clip, a transverse sec tion of which shows a rib, c, and edges cl, a concave surface extending each side from the rib down to the edges, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
