A. B. ITANNER.
Coat and Hat Hooks.
No. 5,858. Patented Mag 14,1872.
Jared 2 74 1121151 1 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE ALFRED B. TANNER, OF NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO SAR- GENT 8t 00., OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A COAT AND HAT HOOK.
Specification forming part of Design No. 5,858, dated May 14, 1872.
Toall whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALFRED B. TANNER, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for Coat and Hat Hook; and I do here by declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents, in-
Figure 1, a side view, and in Fig. 2 a front sectional view on line as w.
This invention relates to a design for a coat and hat hook; and consists, first, in the peculiar form of the hooks, and, second, in the peculiar configuration of the base, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
A is the coathook, and B the hat-hook, the form of the hook in transverse section being that shown in Fig. 2that is, a center with a rib upon each side-the form of the ribs and center being alike. The form in transverse section is the peculiarity of this part of the design. Both hooks are, from choice, constructed of this form; the coat-hook, however, need not be of this peculiar form. This constructionis ornamental, and also gives strength to the hooks. The base C, from which the two hooks project, is of the form seen in the drawing, having a central perforation, D,'for the screw by which the hook is secured.
I claim as my invention- 1. The design, as shown in cross-section, for one or both of the coat and hat hooks, de scribed.
2. The design for the base of a coat and hat hook, shown and described.
ALFRED B. TANNER.
