IMPROVEMENT IN BED-SLATS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. I 68,664, dated October 11, 1875; application filed November 22, 1873.
To all whom. it may concern Be it known that I, THOMAS L. ODELL, of Iowa Falls, county of Hardin and State of Iowa, have invented certain Improvements in Bed-Slats.
The following description, taken in connection with the accompanying plate of drawings hereafter referred to, forms a full and exact specification, wherein are set forth thenatnre and principles of the invention, by which the same may be distinguished from others of a similar class, together with such parts thereof as are claimed as new and are desired to be In the said drawing, the two thin boards a a are secured together at the ends thereof by means of rivets or bolts, and spread apartby the spiral springs 12. The said slats are attached to the cross-bars c by means of the staples cl, which are secured in slots cut for their reception between the boards and outside of the rivets. The ends of the said staples are bent over the lower board a, and made to enter slots cut in the cross-bar o. By this construction when the upper board becomes bent out of position by use the slats can be reversed in position'by turning the staples.
Having described my invention, I claim- The combination of the boards a a, secured together at their ends bv means of bolts, spiral springs b, cross-bars c, and staples d, as and for the purposes described.
