SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,950, dated May 29, 1883.

Application filed April 23, 1883. Term of patent 14 years.

To all whom tt may concern Be it known that I, HERMAN IHLENBURG, (assignor to MACKELLAR, SMIfrHs & J ORDAN,) of the city and county of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Font of Printing- Type, of which' the following is a specification.

The nature ol' my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographie impression, to which reference is made; and it consists of an nnshaded letter composed of the heavy up and down portions having the scroll terminations, as shown, lighter than the letters which they ornament.

The J, P, Q, R, S, V, W, X, Y, and Z are extended below the line. The M and U do not have the scroll terminations. The righthand portion of the W is shorter than the left-hand portion.

The character of the design is preserved in the lower-case, the scroll termination being found in the d, g,j, k,p, v, x, and y, and the d, f, h, j, rn, n, p, q, s, X, and y being extended below the line. The character of the design is also preserved in the numerals.

Having now set forth my invention, l claim as new- 'Ihe design for a font of printing-type, as shown and described.
