To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY SELLING, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Fabrics of all Descriptions, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying illustration, forming part thereof.
The leading feature 0i' my design consists in the peculiar arrangement of a series of figures or illustrations produced in any desired manner upon the surface or in the body of any suitable fabric, representing the various stages of development of the cultivated chaudron or artichoke plant from the time of sprouting until maturity, or the formation of the nut or seed. These figures or illustrations are arranged in symmetrical groups, representing the lower stages of development of the plant at the lower part of the illustration, and the succeeding stages of development as the illustrations proceed upward, the final stage being ticles of wearing-apparel, and for domestic 35 and other purposes too numerous to mention.
l claim- A design for fabrics, consistiu g of a representation of the chaudron or artichoke plant, illustrating the diii'erent stages of develop- 4o ment of the same in a series of figures grouped substantially as specified.
