MERIDEN, UOXNEUTLUUT, ASSIGNOR T0 IGDW.
MILLER 86 (30., OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A LANTERN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,008, dated June 27, 1882. Application filed May l. 1882. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, CHARLES A. KINNEY, of Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for Lanterns; and I do hereby declare connection with accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in-
Figure l, a perspective view; Fig. 2, a plan new.
This invention relates to a design for the lower part or base of lanterns; and it consists in the shape of the base in transverse section, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
The central part, A, is cylindrical in shape. From each side outward projections B extend, contracted or narrower than the central portion. The outer edge of these projections is rounded and vertically in substantially semicircular shape; but the shape of the outer edge is not material to this design. From the central part the base extends, forming an open ring, 0.
In the illustration I have shown my design as applied to a tubular lantern; but the part of the lantern above is immaterial, it only being essential that there shall be the usual appurtenanees to complete the lantern.
I claim- The herein-described design for the base of a lantern, consisting of the central cylindrical portion, A, with the contracted projections B B at each side, substantially as shown in the accompanying illustration.
CHAS. A. KINNEY.
