Description
To all whom it fm1/y concern.-
Be it known, that I, CHARLES RDRAMER of Rut- W tant new @aan est@ 'CHARLES H. CRAMER, or RUTLAND, NEWYORK.'
liet-ters .PatentNa 82,924, datedctober 13, 1868.
rMrRovnn WAsmNG-MAcr-Ime. y
The Schedule referred to--in these Letters Patent' and making part Aof the same.
land, in the county ofJefierson, and State of New York, have invented a new Y'and useful Improvement in Washing-Machine; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', reference being had to the'acco'mpanying drawings, in which Figure l is a plain view.
Figure 2 is a central vertical section.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I'will proceed 4to describe its construction and operation.
. On top of the tub or box A ishinged a frame, B, Inside of this frame is placed a corrugated roller, O. the shaft of which passes. through. eachside of the frame. O n one end of this shaft is a cog-wheel, which meshes into another one, which is attached to one side ofthe ame B, and on this cog-wheel is a crank'by which the machine is operated.
On theinside of; each side of the tubA are two I pieces, D, one end of each being pivoted to the side of the tub, and under each piece isa spring, E, which is secured Ato the bottom of the tub, and the pieces D D are held up from the bottom of the tub by the said springs.
In and between.,th'e pieces D Dare rollers, F F, and between the rollers are pieces, G G, which are secured to the pieces D.
'The frame B is hinged to lone end of th`e tub, and
at the other end of the frame are two-set-screws H H, by which the distance between thecorrugated roller O andthe rollers F F can be adjusted. v
Under the tub is a treadle, I, its bearings being' the side-pieces oi the frame4 which supports the tub A.
two bars or rods J J, which are placed outsideofthe tub.
Its operation is as follows:
C by the use of the treadle I.
By removing the bars J J, the. frame B and roller the'frame is hinged at one en'd.
Having thus fully described my invention,
What I claim, and desire to secure 4by Letters Patent is f 'he combination of the adjustable frame' B, and the regulating its pressure, substantially the manner and for the purpose described.' y
' CEAS. H. GRAMER. Witnesses:
A. M. UTLEY, Neilson Bunnron.
The end of the treadle is connected to the frame B by.
The clothes are placed in the tub at the end where the rollersF-are located.4 The corrugated roller G is.
During the operation, the distance-between the rollL ers may be;.increased by 'raising the frame B and roller Gcan belifted entirely off from over the rollers Fas treadle I for raisin the same, and the screws II for-
