Description
MOSES ROMANS, OF FOND DU LAC, WlSCONSlN.
Letters Patent No. 85,857', dated .Tamm/rg 12, v1869.-
IMPROVED WRING-ER.
The Schedule referreclto in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
enable those skilled inthe art to make and use the same,
reference being had yto the aceompanyingldrawings, forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to improvements in elothes.
Wringers, the object oi'idiieh is to provide an improved pressure-device for the movable roller.
It consists in the arrangement of the pivoted lever', the screw-bolt and spring7 for the purpose of regulating the pressure of the lower roller.
Figure 1 represents a side elevation of my improved wringing-machine, and
Figure 2 represents a sectional elevation ofthe same, taken in the line x :t of iig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents the fixed roller, and B, the movable one, the journals of which are supported on the levers C, pivoted at D to the frame, and supported at their swinging ends by the eccentrieally-shaped levers E, pivoted to the frame at F, and connected at the ends of their long arms to the bar G, which is connected by the screw-bolt H to a spring, I.
The pressure of the movable roller may be regulated by screwing the bolt H further into or out of the spring I, and the latter will yield, to allow the necessary movement of the roller B, to accommodate the thicker or thinner portions of clothes passing through them.
The supportingpostsl orx the frame are provided with the slots K and buttons L, for securing them to the tub.
This arrangement is of very simple construction, and allows a Wide range of movement ofthe roller B.
The levers O and E may either be arranged in a slot in the posts, or upon one side of them, and the roller B is controlled laterally by the journals passing through slots in the posts.
I elaim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent-h The'leler C, pivoted to the frame at D, supporting the lower roller, B, and resting at its free end upon the lever E, also pivoted to the-'frame at F, in combination with the adjusting screw H and rubber spring I, vall arranged beneath the rollers, as herein shown and described, for the purpose specified.
The above speciiieation of my invention signed by me,r this 31st day of August, 1868.
' MOSES ROMANS.
