Description

To ALL WHOM IT MAY coNcERN:
. @uitrit gisten getint @ffice I-IENRXT LOVIE, 0F PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, AND ALBERT LOVIE, 0F PRUSSIA.
Letters Patent No. 69,823, dated October I5, 1867.
A IMPROVED CURTAIN-FIXTURE.
Be it known that we, HENRY LOVIE, of the city and county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, and ALBERT LovIE, of Prussia, now residing 'in the city and coun-ty of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented an improved Curtain-Fixture; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full,` clear, and exact description of the same, refereice being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
Our invention is similar to that one for which Letters Patent were granted to us the fifth day of February, A. D. one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven, and numbered sixty-one thousand seven hundred and fortyiive, with the exceptions that the jamb-plate is outwardly facing into the hollow of which the sliding-screw rod takes; and that the roller-cage is dispensed with. A'pin or stud, which is attached to the screw-rod, to which the roller or cord-pulley is permanently attached, or on which it revolves', is substituted for the said roller-cage. On reference to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specification- Figure 1 is a. front view, and
Figure 2 is a side View, showing the cord-pulley permanently xed to the pin C; and
Figure 3 is also a side view, rshowing the pin C with the pulley rotating on it.
.Similar letters refer to similar parts in the two views.
A is va jamb-plate, rectangular in shape, having an open bottom. B is a sliding screw-rod, which takes into the hollow of thcjamb-plate, and is held in position and guided by passing through a corresponding opening in the lower end of the jamb-plate, and by a guide-platc, a, in the recessed bottom of the same.. C is a pin or stud, iixod to the screw-rod B. It projects through a longitudinal slot in the front of the/jamb-plate, by which means the screw-'rod is prevented from turning. D is a roller on the pin C. It is either fastened to it or is loose, having a perfectly free rotary motion ou the said pin. The jamb-plate is fastened tothe jamb of a window, and theroller-cord passed; under and around the roller` D, which,A is then pressed upon, forcing the screw-rod down until the shade-cord acquires su'cient tension to turn thoishade-rollei, and also hold it in position when the shade is adjusted to any suitable height. The nut E on the rod B is then screwed up against the bottom of the jamb-platc or cage, which prevents the screw-rod from lifting and the shade-cord'from losing its rigidity. v
What we claim as our invention,` and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The sliding screw-rod B, in combination with the pin or stud C and the roller D, either fixed or revolving, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof we hereunto sign our names to this specification in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HENRY LOVIE, ALBERT LOVIE.
Witnesses H. WnNIenn, DAVID BEITLER.
